Hot Cars Kill Dogs in Minutes!

I need to talk about something serious. As the weather warms up and we're all enjoying these beautiful sunny days, I'm seeing a DANGEROUS trend again.
Yesterday while shopping for garden supplies, I saw a dog left in a car. They were there before we arrived and still there when we left 10+ minutes later. My car was reading 26°C and those barely cracked windows weren't helping that poor dog.
Let me be clear: That small window opening that keeps your dog from being stolen ISN'T enough to keep them safe from heat! Even with water, dogs can DIE in hot cars in as little as TWO MINUTES.
I'm shocked that even experienced dog owners still do this. They think their pet is safer with them in the car than at home alone. This is wrong.
As someone who works with dogs professionally, hot weather is a nightmare for keeping them safe. When I must transport dogs in warm weather:
I keep journeys extremely short
Windows down, constant air flow
Plenty of water available
Park ONLY in shade
Never leave them alone for more than a minute
Your dog is safest at home in hot weather, or directly by your side in the shade with water.
PLEASE stop leaving dogs in cars and SHARE this message. We need to prevent these needless tragedies!
